Body of Rishiganga tragedy victim found after over a year

The body of a Rishiganga tragedy victim was found Monday, over a year after the incident. More than a year after the  Rishiganga flash flood , the body of yet another victim was recovered on Monday from a tunnel at the NTPC’s hydel project site in Tapovan. A total of 140 people had gone missing at the Tapovan-Vishnugad hydel project site when the disaster caused by a glacial burst struck on February 7 last year. The body was found when the debris inside the tunnel was being cleared at the Tapovan-Vishnugad hydel project, an official at the site said. The body is that of Rohit Bhandari, an employee of the NTPC’s subsidiary company Ritwik who happened to be at work inside the tunnel when the tragedy struck, he said. A total of 140 people had gone missing at the Tapovan-Vishnugad hydel project site when the disaster caused by a glacial burst struck on February 7 last year. 11 people, returning from a wedding, die in accident in Uttarakhand

 The accident occurred early morning on Tuesday on the way back from a wedding ceremony in Uttarakhand. At least eleven people, who were returning from a wedding, died in an accident in Uttarakhand. Two others were injured, police informed on Tuesday. Police have arrived at the spot of the accident. PM Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to the accident. The injured are being given ₹50,000. The accident took place late night on Monday in Champawat district. Hotel owned by hijab row petitioner Hazra Shifa's father attacked by mob, brother injured

A hotel in Maple, Udupi, belonging to the father of Hazra Shifa, one of the petitioners in the hijab row, was attacked by a mob on Monday. Hazra has tweeted about the attack and her brother was attacked by the mob. A hotel belonging to one of the petitioner’s (Hazra Shifa)  father was allegedly attacked on Monday, February 21. The incident took place in Malpe in Udupi district. Hazra had filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court regarding the ongoing hijab row. Shifa’s brother at the hospital. Two Ukraine soldiers, civilian killed in shelling

Two Ukrainian soldiers and a civilian died in the shelling of frontline villages Monday, as fears rose of a Russian invasion of its Western-backed neighbor. Ukraine’s national police  said the two soldiers died in Zaitseve, a village 30 kilometers (18 miles) north of the rebel stronghold Donetsk, with three more wounded. Russia’s  President Vladimir Putin ordered  on Monday military troops to “maintain” peace in two breakaway regions of Ukraine after he recognized them as independent.  For more than a decade, Lebanon’s central bank charged commercial banks in the country commissions when they bought government securities without making clear that the bulk of those commissions went to a company controlled by the brother of the central bank’s governor, according to documents seen by Reuters.
